Jennifer Todd Asks Mary Miller if She Agrees That Losing an American City is a “Small Price to Pay”
Democratic candidate calls on Miller to answer a yes-or-no question by Oct. 7.
Edwardsville, IL: Jennifer Todd, a nurse, a mom, and the Democratic candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 15th District, is calling on Rep. Mary Miller to publicly denounce the statement that taking out any city, millions of Americans, and a military base is acceptable.
Monday night at a rally in Nebraska, while discussing the war with Iran, the President said: “It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe. They can take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.”
Todd said, “American cities are not a small price to pay. American lives are not a small price to pay. It’s a simple question, and the families of this district deserve a simple answer. On behalf of the people she represents, Mary Miller should be clear on where she stands.”
Additionally, San Diego is home to Naval Base San Diego, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Naval Base Point Loma, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and Coast Guard Sector San Diego. Thousands of service members and their families live and work there.
That hits home for Todd. Scott Air Force Base sits directly next to the 15th District, and military families from across the region live and work in the communities Miller represents.
“The people in San Diego are somebody’s sons and daughters, just like the airmen and families right next door to us,” Todd said. “As a nurse, I’ve spent my career caring for people on the worst day of their lives. I know that no one in a hospital waiting room is a ‘price.’ So, I’m asking Mary Miller directly: Would you tell a family in this district that losing their city was a small price to pay?”
Todd said this isn’t a partisan issue. “Republicans, Democrats, and Independents in this district all want the same thing: a representative who will stand up for American lives, no matter who is in the White House.”
Todd is asking Miller to respond publicly, in her own words, by Oct. 7.
