Local Democrat to challenge Mary Miller

Republican U.S. Congresswoman Mary Miller may face a Democratic challenger in the 2026 election. Edwardsville’s Jennifer Todd recently announced her candidacy for the 15th Congressional District. She is a former nurse and hopes to win the seat that represents parts of Madison County.

The 15th Congressional District includes much of central Illinois, with the exception of an area cut out through the middle that is the 13th District, which runs from the population centers of the metro-east like Granite City and Alton, to the north through Macoupin County, to Springfield and over to Decatur. That is traditionally a Democrat stronghold which is currently represented by Democrat Nikki Budzinski. August 5 is the first day candidates can circulate nominating petitions.
